Are EPDM Rubber Sheets Chemical Resistant?

EPDM rubber sheets, made from Ethylene-Propylene Diene Rubber (EPDM), a non-polar rubber, exhibit good resistance to a variety of chemicals, including polar solvents. They are resistant to acids, alkalis, water, alcohol, and oxygenated solvents like Methyl Ethylene Ketone (MEK). This makes EPDM rubber sheets a popular choice for chemical-resistant gasket applications. However, EPDM rubber sheets are not suitable for use with highly concentrated chemicals or at very high temperatures, as these conditions can lead to rapid degradation of the material. For applications requiring resistance to high concentrations of chemicals, high chemical diversity, or high temperatures, alternatives such as VITON rubber sheets or PTFE tapes might be more appropriate.
